The Old Lodge - Wedding Venue

The Old Lodge in Minchinhampton is a pub that I've been to a fair few times; both to eat & for social drinks. I also did a brides makeup there a while back & despite visiting lots of times before that was the first time I realised that The Lodge was licensed for civil ceremonies.

The venue itself is a beautifully restored former hunting lodge to Henry VIII. There are lots of lovely traditional touches that are complemented by sympathetic restoration. All of the rooms are light & everything feels very laid back.

The views in every direction are of the common & the cattle that graze there which is beautiful  & adds to the 'country' feel. Despite being quite literally in the middle of fields, The Lodge is really easy to find & completely accessible to vehicles which makes it the perfect blend of quirky & convenient.

You have exclusive use of the restaurant area & a few adjoining rooms & there is accommodation upstairs if you wish to hire it. The rest of the pub is left open to the public. This means that the costs of using this space for your venue is less than hiring most exclusive venues; in fact there isn't a traditional 'hire' cost: Instead there is a minimum spend limit that is equivalent to what they would hope to achieve if the restaurant was open to public. In affect it's rather like a pre-paid tab that you use for food & drink.

It's quite difficult for me to look at The Lodge as a wedding venue because I treat it as one of my local's but it does lend itself very well to one & it lends itself even better as a reception venue. I think it's perfect for a couple that want flexibility & a laid-back, party atmosphere. It's beautiful & fuss-free & it should tick a lot of boxes for a lot of couples.

I wasn't able to find any photographs of 'real weddings' at The Old Lodge but you can find more information & download their wedding brochure here. I would strongly recommend going along to chat to someone & get the feel of the place, it's beautiful. If you haven't done so already please take a few minutes to read this post about the Glitz and Pram Wedding Venue Feature.
